A Verse to Memorise – Trusting God for Guidance

Yesterday my husband said that the greatest single thing he ever did was to memorise scripture, and it was probably the thing that took the least time.

He also said that the best verse he ever memorised was this one:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.

Prov 3:5,6 (NKJV)
After I was baptised I remember that this was one of the first passages that our church elder gave me to memorise, and it has been a great help to me.
Often we worry and wonder what we should do and which way we should go. But here is a clear promise that if we trust God and acknowledge Him in all that we do, He will direct the way that we go.

We need to trust Him by believing that He is in control and will do what is best for us. We also need to acknowledge Him by asking for His advice, direction, help in everything and by being thankful and content in all our circumstances.

And as Matthew Henry says, ‘Those that put themselves under a divine guidance shall always have the benefit of it.’

Memorizing scripture is something I have felt that I needed to do more of. What better way to fight the battles of day than with the truth of His Word

Hi Barbara, ‘Do not Depart’ is great, I memorised Philippians due to Katie’s encouragement.

Sharon I also love some songs that come from that verse!

Hi Maryann, memorising scripture is definitely one of the best ways to fight our spiritual battles!
