Songs of Hope

When I’m feeling tired or discouraged I often go into the kitchen and turn on my music to a certain song that lifts my spirits. But then when it’s ended I have to search for the next one, as it’s not very often that they are all on the same CD! So I finally made a playlist of them all for my ipod.

All these songs lift my spirits – and I think it is because they give me hope. Some are about God, so they remind me that God is great and can be trusted and He is on my side. Others are about heaven so they help me to remember that one day we will go to meet Jesus and everything will be perfect!

What they all do is to set my mind on things above:

‘If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.’ Colossians 3:1

Here are the songs – I’ve linked to the original or as close as I can get to it on You Tube:

  1. You’ve listed many of my favourites already, Rhoda.

I’d add a very, very old song – ‘Go down to the house of the potter‘ by the Fisherfolk. If you don’t like the old-fashioned style of the music and singing, just read the words.

I also have a soft spot for Michael W Smith’s ‘Let it rain‘. I’ve been known to sing this at top volume over and over while driving on a long journey 🙂

Thank you Chris, I do have ‘Let it rain’, but have never heard the other one so am looking forward to listening to it!
